Journalistieke proeverij

Kom op 18 mei naar een proeverij van de mooiste journalistieke verhalen, geserveerd door de makers zelf. Internationaal gerenommeerde journalisten laten fragmenten van hun eigen werk zien, horen en voelen. En ze vertellen hoe het verhaal ook henzelf gegrepen heeft. Want verhalende journalistiek doet meer dan alleen informeren: ze ontroert, verrast, schuurt en verwondert – en wil je hoe dan ook raken. Niet alleen in je hoofd, maar ook in je hart.

        Op het 1e (Engelstalige) deel van de avond spreken:

Jacqui Banaszynski (Missouri School of Journalism, the Poynter Institute). Reisde voor haar reportages alle zeven continenten af. Heeft een Pulitzerprijs en een tweede Pulitzer-nominatie op zak.

James Cook (BBC Radio). Maakt voor The Beeb o.a. Poetry Please, The Echo Chamber, Natural Histories, With Great Pleasure en het prijswinnende Soul Music.

John Sutter (CNN), columnist en multimediaproducer. Experimenteert met nieuwe vertelvormen en betrekt kijkers bij het maakproces.

Lulu Miller (NPR), wetenschapsjournalist en podcastmaker. Werkte vijf jaar voor het iconische RadioLab en bedacht en co-presenteert de podcast Invisibilia.

        En tijdens het 2e (Nederlandstalige) deel:                               

Chris Westendorp. Schrijft en regisseert documentaires en speelfilms en werkte als dramaturge mee aan de bekroonde serie Schuldig.

Jacqueline Maris, radiomaker en multimediaal journalist. Werkt momenteel aan een true crime-podcast.

Nicole Segers, documentair fotograaf. Voor haar werk reisde ze door o.a. Afrika, Indonesië en Oost-Europa. Is gefascineerd door grenzen.

De avond wordt gepresenteerd door radiomaker en wetenschapsjournalist Saar Slegers.

A Journalistic Taster

This 18th of May, you’re invited to a taster of extraordinary journalistic stories as selected by their makers. Internationally renowned journalists let you see, feel and hear how they were affected by their subjects. For narrative journalism does more than merely inform: it moves, surprises, screams and creates a sense of wonder. It aims to touch not only the head, but also the heart.

The 1st part of the night is in English and will feature:

Jacqui Banaszynski (Missouri School of Journalism, the Poynter Institute). Jacqui’s work has brought her to all seven continents and garnered her a Pulitzer Prize and a second Pulitzer nomination.

James Cook (BBC Radio). A veteran BBC producer, James is responsible for such programs as Poetry Please, The Echo Chamber, Natural Histories, With Great Pleasure and the prize winning Soul Music.
John Sutter (CNN) is a columnist, multimedia producer, and experiments with forms of storytelling that engages viewers in the creative process.
Lulu Miller (NPR) is a science journalist and podcaster. She worked for five years on the now iconic RadioLab podcast and created and co-presented the podcast Invisibilia.

The 2nd part of the evening is in Dutch and will include:

Chris Westendorp. She writes and directs documentaries and films and works as a dramaturge for the award-winning series Schuldig (Guilty).
Jacqueline Maris is a radio producer and multimedia journalist. She’s currently working on a true crime podcast.
Nicole Segers is a documentary photographer. Her work has brought her all over the world, including Africa, Indonesia and Eastern Europe. Borders are an endless source of fascination to her.

The evening will be presented by radio producer and science journalist Saar Slegers.
