The World’s Wife comes to Amsterdam!

Carol Ann Duffy and John Sampson, the Poet Laureate and her favourite court musician, bring an hour of light and shade, laughter and reflection to Amsterdam.

Carol Ann will be interviewed by Maartje Smits and reads from her acclaimed collections, including ‘The World?s Wife’ and ‘The Bees’ and other works. Lucid, honest and accessible, her writing explores both everyday experience and our inner worlds in deceptively simple, profoundly resonant poems.

Alongside the words, musician John Sampson takes us on a virtuoso tour through musical highlights of the past 500 years played on a fascinating collection of period and modern instruments.

Introduction by Maartje Smits.
Smits calls herself a writing detective. One day she’s a filming poet, the next a listening journalist. She has written columns for De Groene Amsterdammer and teaches at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and ArtEZ. Her poetry debute ‘Als je een meisje bent’ was published in 2015.
